Bio

Marina recently received a Master of Fine Arts in Scenic Design from Boston University. She also holds a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Marina is a registered architect in the United Kingdom and practiced architecture in various studios in London, Paris, Italy, Germany, and Boston, MA. Most recently, her architectural work consists of designing residential spaces, interiors, and furniture. Parallel to the architectural studies, she has taken fine art courses and studied a semester at the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. Marina studied printmaking at Cornell University, at the Centre des Arts du Livre et de l’Estampe at the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris, and at the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Hamburg.

ART
Marina’s artistic work involves a combination of printmaking, photography, creative writing, and bookmaking, which she exhibited in Europe and the USA. Recent exhibitions include juried shows of artist books in Portland, OR and Denver, CO and a solo show of prints in Stone Ridge, NY (www.mergesr.com). Her experience in multi-sensory art includes the organization and curatorial oversight of several immersive participatory performance events in the Northeast.

In collaboration with Graz-based artists Nayari Castillo and Kate Howlett-Jones, Marina was awarded a grant from the region of Styria, Austria to support a traveling project titled ‘Stories from the Edge’. For more information, check http://www.storiesfromtheedge.org.

THEATRE
Marina’s theatrical work has included productions at Boston University, notably the scenic design for Our Country’s Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker. She also created the visuals for a staged reading of August Strindberg’s Crimes and Crimes (adapted by Ulrika Brand) which included projections, lighting, and simple props. Most recently Marina was involved in workshopping and scenic designing a new play by Cayenne Douglass through the Boston University play writing program.
